Does Lowell have commuter rail? ›

Use Your CharlieCard on the Commuter Rail

You can use your CharlieCard to pay for travel within Fairmount Line Zone 1A. Tap your CharlieCard at the fare validators on the platform.

If you are 65 or older, you are eligible for reduced fares with a Senior CharlieCard. If you attend one of the schools enrolled in the MBTA's Student Pass Program, you are eligible for an S-Card or M7 Card.

Children age 11 and under ride the MBTA for free. Groups including 10 or more children (regardless of the number of chaperones), must register their travel using the field trip form.

The Nashua-Manchester Passenger Rail (Capitol Corridor) Project extends the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) Commuter Rail service 30 miles from Lowell, Massachusetts to Manchester, New Hampshire.

They stretch from Newburyport in the north to North Kingstown, Rhode Island, in the south, and reach as far west as Worcester and Fitchburg. The system is split into two parts, with lines north of Boston having a terminus at North Station and lines south of Boston having a terminus at South Station.

There are no NYC subway trains with bathrooms. Only commuter railroads like the LIRR and Metro North have them. A few subway stations opened bathrooms with limited hours from 7AM ~ 7PM after COVID restrictions were eased.

The commuter trains operate on weekdays during rush hours in the morning and evening as indicated in the schedules below. The service is not available on weekends, public holidays, and during times of the day on weekdays that are not indicated in the schedules below.
