I was so surprised to find that the canvases that I bought for my “Sampling the Media” class were Frederix brand, but on closer inspection they were for watercolors. I didn’t even know there was such a thing. We tried them in my class and I set out to experiment with them, coming up with this little painting that I thought was going to be a throwaway. It was so nice working on that canvas! I had troubles with parts of it, and a wet rag would take care of it, and so I could wipe out sections and start over. That is certainly not possible on paper. Rinse off the whole thing if you aren’t happy. Oh my…I am happy with this little find.
I spent my youth collecting shells at Sanibel Island during my spring vacations, and I am never on a beach that I am not looking for the perfect specimen to come in at my feet. That did happen once! And it was for me one of those magic moments in life. I was about 10 years old and still remember that feeling.
