What a horrendous time I had with this painting. I couldn't get anything right. The sunset didn't work and I had to take out most of the yellow. I wanted to feature that green stripe I often see on cloudless nights here in Florida and it too had to be modified. I wanted the sky to be flat, with no brush marks and the paint wouldn't dry right. I kept adding more and more paint and it kept looking terrible. Finally I looked on the Internet for how the old masters did their paintings and learned to "flog" the paint. Then the painting was speared by my friend's mop handle and I had to take the painting to restorer to be fixed. What a nightmare! It was nearly two and a half years on my easel and the progress is documented on my blog. If you don’t have a life and are looking for something to do you can go here and follow the progress of this painting as it developed..from July 9, 2012 to the present.
